Based on my personal experience, Mandarin is my first language, and I went to SJSU for my interior design BFA study.
I realized when I was at school, whenever I need to search some ideas, knowing more than one language is beneficial.
I can search information those were not written in English to get more help.
And learning new language is fun; believe it or not, my English grade is always bad back to high school and senior high school, but, I still got my BFA degree!
Try to look for different ideas online using different languages, and maybe try those language you cant even read.
